Whether you are hosting an autumn dinner party, need a quick dessert for one, or just craving something sweet and soul-soothing, these little apple crumble cups of joy deliver every time.

There is something undeniably comforting about an apple crumble. Its warm, sweet, cinnamon scent drifting through the kitchen. But sometimes, it is fun to take a classic and look at it through a new lens. That is exactly what a apple crumble cup does. Instead of layering everything into a single baking dish, this modern take lets each component shine, crisp, caramelized apples, a buttery oat topping, and a cool, creamy accompaniment, all presented in a single serving cup.
The magic of this dessert lies in its simplicity and elegance. The apples are tender but not mushy, cooked just enough to deepen their flavor without losing their structure. The crumble topping is baked separately, keeping it golden and crunchy, never soggy. And the cream, silky with a hint of vanilla, brings everything together without overshadowing the rest.

This is the kind of dish that feels fancy enough for dinner guests but still delivers all the cozy, nostalgic warmth of the original. It invites play, add a splash of bourbon to the apples, a pinch of sea salt to the crumble, or swap in pears or quince for a seasonal twist. After all, the best kind of comfort food is the one that makes you feel something familiar, but fresh.
Unlike a traditional apple crumble baked in a large dish, apple crumble cups are designed for individual servings. They are easy to prep ahead, serve beautifully.
Substitutes
I used red gala apples for this recipe, as they are usually a good price in the store at this time, however you can use the apples that you are familiar with or that grow in your garden. Pick an apple that is firmer to help keep its structure when heated.

Batch cooking tips
Because all layers of this dessert is made individually, they are incredibly easy to batch cook and store. All parts can be made a day ahead and safely stored, for easy assembly on the day.
