I prefer using the oven for dishes like this when I can. Perfect for batch cooking for your whole family or to meal prep and put in the freezer for later.

Where can I use crispy prawns?

Put these prawns in your soft taco, or sprinkle them on top of your creamy coconut ramen, or why not eat them as is, dipping them in a sweet chili sauce. I also like to put these crispy prawns on spaghetti or linguine with a drizzle of sweet chili sauce.

The plate is filled with two soft shell tacos, each have a few spinach leaves on the bottom, topped with red onions, tomatoes and cucumbers, and on the top, there are crispy prawns.

Substitutes

If you cannot get a hold of panko breadcrumbs, you can use regular. The reason I am using panko breadcrumbs is that the size of the crumbs is bigger which gives an extra crisp to the prawns.

I often use frozen prawns when doing this recipe, mainly because it is significantly cheaper than fresh prawns, but also having prawns in the freezer, makes deciding what to have for dinner much faster. Ideally I would have taken out the prawns in the morning to let them defrost in the fridge during the day, but in a pinch you can take out the prawns when you get home from work, spread them on a plate to defrost or put them in a hot water water bath, just make sure no water touches the prawns and you will be fine.

Freezable

You can definitely freeze these prawns. Making a big batch in the oven, saves time for later because you can freeze them. If you have the space, freeze them flat first on a cookie sheet and once frozen solid, put them in freezer bags. If you do not have the space to freeze flat, then freeze in portion sizes, so you can take out just as much as you need for next time.
